We manufacture alloys for the global steel industry in our Mendoza,
Argentina and Ohio, USA facilities.
ULTRACORE BRAND CALCIUM SILICON
The Mendoza plant of our Globe Metales S.A. unit is among the world's
principal producers of calcium silicon alloys, critical ingredients in steel
manufacturing, particularly in modern continuous casting processes. These
alloys act as deoxidizers and degasifiers, in addition to imparting
favorable properties to finished steel.
ULTRACORE BRAND CORED WIRE ALLOYS
Globe Metales, along with our Ultracore Polska unit also specialize in
producing a variety of alloys in cored-wire form, a delivery method
preferred by a growing number of manufacturers, in both the steel and
foundry industries. In this form, the alloy is ground to a fine size,
encapsulated in a sheath of steel roll-formed into a tube and then wound
into a coil. The steel sheath protects the alloy from oxidation and its fine
size aids in the integration of the alloy into the molten metal. Globe
Metales and Ultracore Polska produce a variety of formulations, diameters
and lengths of cored-wire alloys to suit customer needs.
FERROSILICON AND SILICOMANGANESE
The Ohio, USA plant of our Globe Metallurgical unit produces ferrosilicon
and silicomanganese, both essential alloys in steel production. Ferrosilicon
is used by steel mills mainly as a deoxidant and silicomanganese is
essential to modern steel production as a deoxidizer and a desulphurizing
agent. Our currently idle Niagara Falls, New York
plant is also capable of producing ferrosilicon alloys.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT

providing extensive technical advice and service to our steelmaking alloy
customers, and have steel metallurgists on staff dedicated to this. In
addition to providing our customers with advice on their manufacturing
processes, we can tailor the chemical composition of our products to the
specific requirements of each customer's product line and manufacturing
processes.

Our steelmaking alloy customers are extremely quality conscious, as an error
in chemical composition can shut down production. Our intensive quality
control measures at each stage of the manufacturing process act to ensure
that customer specifications are met. As testimony to our dedication to
